Specialist hip care, wherever you call home.
The European Hip Center welcomes patients from across Europe, the Middle East and beyond. Muscle-sparing surgery, transparent pricing and digital follow-up from home, all in one coordinated journey.
One team, one specialty. The hip.
International patients choose us because we combine high volume, sub-specialisation and a digital follow-up model that simply does not exist at most local hospitals.

From first contact to full recovery.
A coordinated five-step pathway designed around minimising your time abroad and maximising the support you receive, both in Belgium and back home.
1. Diagnosis
Send your imaging (MRI, X-ray, CT) and medical history by email. Once our team has reviewed your file, we schedule a video consultation with a hip specialist and your Hip Coach.
2. Treatment plan & cost estimate
Based on the video consultation, we draw up a personalised treatment plan with a transparent, all-inclusive quote. We discuss all options, expected outcomes and logistics, in English, French or Dutch.
3. Travel & accommodation
Our international care coordinator helps with travel planning, accommodation near the clinic and airport transfer. Brussels Airport is 40 minutes away by car.
4. Surgery & recovery
Muscle-sparing surgery tailored to your condition: total hip replacement (EDA technique), hip arthroscopy or PAO. For total hip replacement, eligible patients leave the hospital within 24 hours under our One-Day-Hip protocol; recovery time differs for arthroscopy and PAO.
5. Follow-up from home
Through HipCloud, your Hip Coach guides your recovery day by day from your own home, wherever you are in the world. Video check-ins, exercise tracking and direct messaging included.

Common questions from international patients.
How long do I need to stay in Belgium?
For a total hip replacement using our One-Day-Hip protocol (EDA technique, eligible patients), most international patients stay 5-7 days in total: 1 day pre-operative consultation, 1 day surgery (24h hospital stay), and 3-5 days local recovery before flying home. For hip arthroscopy this is typically 3-4 days. PAO and other procedures require a longer stay, which we discuss individually.
Will my insurance cover treatment in Belgium?
EU patients can use the S2/E112 form for cross-border care reimbursement under EU Directive 2011/24. Patients from outside the EU should check with their private insurer, we provide all required documentation in English.
Can I have my follow-up at home?
Yes. Through HipCloud, our digital platform, your Hip Coach monitors your recovery, adapts your exercises and answers questions, wherever you are. Video consultations replace most physical follow-up visits.
Do you offer fixed-price packages?
Yes. After your video consultation we provide a transparent, all-inclusive quote covering pre-operative work-up, surgery, hospital stay, prosthesis (if applicable), and 6 months of HipCloud follow-up.
What is the wait time for international patients?
We typically schedule international consultations within 2 weeks. Surgery dates are on average available within 4 weeks of the consultation, depending on your preferences and travel constraints.
How do I send my medical files?
Send your imaging (MRI, X-ray, CT) and medical history by email to info@europeanhipcenter.com. Accepted formats: PDF reports, JPG/PNG and DICOM (MRI/CT). We confirm receipt within 2 working days.
